From Fragmented Data to Unified Insights: Strengthening Stonyhurst’s Culture of Excellence with Alps
Written by: Mark Evans, Director of Studies at Stonyhurst College
Stonyhurst College is a Jesuit boarding and day school in Lancashire, educating boys and girls aged 3 to 18. The College welcomes pupils with a wide range of academic starting points, offering both the IB Diploma Programme and A Levels, as well as a comprehensive GCSE curriculum at Key Stage 4.
As a non-selective school, value-added progress lies at the very heart of Stonyhurst’s mission; seeking to measure not just outcomes, but the distance each young person travels, and the extent to which our teachers help them exceed expectation.
In 2024, as part of a broader academic strategy to make data more meaningful and accessible, we chose Alps as our value-added partner. The decision was driven by a desire to establish a single, coherent framework that could unify GCSE, A Level, IB and CTEC analysis, strengthen accountability and allow leaders and teachers alike to make decisions based on live, contextualised data.
In this case study, Director of Studies, Mark Evans, describes how Stonyhurst College integrated Alps into the culture and explores the impact of the Partnership and why it worked so well.
