The latest from Alps

12th September 2022

Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful and restful break. Over the Summer we have been busy making some exciting improvements and updates to Connect and Summit. Read our article to learn about the new features and updates from Alps, including our personalised target toggle in the Student Analysis Overview, and our new Summit gradepoint selector.

Target setting with Year 12 and 13: Submit your data to take part in our research

To thoroughly investigate the effect of prior attainment distribution, we would ask schools and colleges to upload their average GCSE scores for both year groups into the relevant cohorts within Connect Data for 2022/23. We would ask for this to be completed before 23 September.

Compare your student outcomes against the personalised target

Exciting news! We have launched a new toggle feature into the Student Analysis Overview section. The new toggle button allows you to compare your student outcomes against the MEG, or against your personalised target.

For step by step instructions on how to use this new feature, head over to our Knowledge Base article or watch our video here.

Summit users: Gradepoint selector update

We have added a new and improved gradepoint selector to Summit. The selector now allows you to switch between Key Stages and to view previous gradepoint trends in past Academic Years.

For more information, read the articles ‘Viewing historical data in Summit’ and ‘Viewing Summit across Key Stage 4 and 5’

KS4 MEG change (England)

Over the last few months we have reviewed some of our MEGs at KS4 to ensure that they remain aspirational against Attainment 8 and Progress 8 figures. You can see the amends to Bands 7 and 10 in this article. These will take effect from Gradepoints in September 2022

Removal of Curriculum Balance Factor

Historically, the overall Quality Indicator score for BTECs has had a Curriculum Balance Factor applied to it to take into account the variation in subject value-added scores of the BTEC courses. The way in which we now construct our benchmarks for the newer BTECs has meant that the balance factor has become a measure which is adversely affecting a high number of providers. We have therefore taken the decision to remove it from your overall 2016 BTEC analysis.
